While an operator may occasionally get lucky, such combinations are far more likely to result in damage, significant repair costs and prolonged downtime, sometimes as long as several days. On conventional hydraulic release systems, 100% of the force is sent to the release cylinders. This system was originally designed for construction and demolition waste recycling, to protect the tilt plate from breaking as uncrushed material passes the crushing chamber. With the Neuson Steel Crusher, the main force is transferred to the pulverizer, with only a portion of the force going to the hydraulic cylinders. This allows it to release much faster than conventional jaws, and it also allows for the permanent feeding of unrushable material.
