Together with customers, we visited the Maskin Mekano factory in Sweden, where valuable feedback on recycling machines was shared and innovative insights were gained. The future of recycling looks promising thanks to new technologies and innovations, but it is and will remain dependent on the environmental gains to be made. To make continuous strides, investments in research and development are crucial. Swedish company Maskin Mekano's electrically powered crushing and screening plants are a telling example of this.

Optimal recycling prevents waste streams, results in optimal reuse of secondary raw materials and helps reduce or - in the most ideal situation - prevent the extraction of increasingly scarce primary raw materials, which also makes their spatial effects on our living environment a thing of the past.

Reusing a high-quality material such as concrete in foundations does not do justice to this material; it is even a waste, because in this way we remain dependent on primary raw materials such as gravel and sand. Old concrete should become new concrete in our view.
